Anjou self catering cottages and holiday home accommodation in
the Loire Valley France (completed early 2003 first let April
2003)
The
dream was to spend a week cycling along quiet lanes through
vineyards in rural France. Sampling local wines and rural
produce.
Les Fleurs self catering home exceeded our expectations as a
base. The location is perfect. The kitchen was so much better
equipped than usual that we were able to give vent to out
gastronomic talents as well. Magnifique!!!
Merci Jon and Sue !!!
The Midmore Family,
Bristol. June 2010
All
had a wonderful time!! Loved Saumur and Angers (take your
credit card do not be dependant on self control!) Zoo at Doue la
Fontaine is fantastic.
The beds in Anjou were the most comfortable we’ve ever had on
our many trips to France – thank you!! Sue and John are hands
on, or, hands off as you need. The gardens are beautifully kept
and our week was wonderfully fragranced by the roses. Wish we
were here for longer……..
Au revoir
Ps. I had a great time, thank you both for the memories!! –Norma

It’s been a
dream of ours to come to France. Never in those dreams did we
ever expect to be guests in a gite as incredible as this. Jon
and Sue are wonderful hosts, who have given us forever memories.
Our fabulous plane trip and spectacular meal were amazing. We
are concluding our 2 weeks in beautiful France, returning to
Canada highly recommending ‘Les Fleurs, Condos in the Loire
Valley’ to all our friends & associates. Jon and Sue. A million
thank yous and we really hope to be back!
Val, Larry and Emma Burlington, Ontario Canada.

Our 2nd
visit to Les Fleurs in 3 years. Yet again a perfect holiday. Jon
and Sue the perfect hosts – Never obtrusive but always there if
needed. Sue should really write a cook book as the food was
fantastic yet again. Thanks Jon and Sue.

A last minute
booking at ‘Les Fleurs’ proved to be an inspired choice! Instead
of a Villa in Spain we came, thanks to the volcano in Iceland, to
this excellent
gite in the
Loire. And the weather was perfect! A super holiday in a very
child friendly environment and thanks to Sue and Jon for being so
helpful. We will certainly recommend ANJOU and ‘Les Fleurs’ to
everyone.

We had a lovely
week at 'Les Fleurs'. Jon and Sue's hospitality was excellent.
We particularly enjoyed the meals Sue cooked and the local wines;
we would recommend locally a visit to the Zoo and 'The Auberge
Bienvenue' restaurant for a lovely meal.
The region is lovely and would recommend a visit to Amboise and
Chinon, which are nice little towns with nice views. The Chateau
Chenonceaux is very pretty.
Thanks again Jon and Sue for making us welcome and making our
stay enjoyable. We will recommend 'Les Fleurs holiday cottages' to
family and friends.

Thank you Jon and Sue.
We’ve had a super holiday in this wonderful region. Thanks
also for making our anniversary evening very special.
Anjou and our hosts provided everything we could have wished
for! Best wishes and many thanks.
The Sheard family, Cheshire September 2009
We had a very happy and enjoyable holiday at Anjou. Now
that our holiday is coming to an end we wish we could stay
longer! Many thanks to Jon and Sue for your kindness throughout
our stay. With the help of your advice, we enjoyed lovely trips
to places of interest during our stay. Many thanks and best
wishes.
The O’Neill Family, Dublin, Ireland September 2009
Thank
you Jon and Sue for a fantastic stay in Anjou The gite
was great and the kids loved their ‘princess bedding’ and all
the toys, games and books. We all had lots of fun in the
pool and playing swingball in the garden. Sue’s cooking
was delicious and meant we could have the ‘restaurant
experience’ without having to worry about babysitting.Love
window shopping in Saumur and Chinon – both beautiful towns.
Everyone loved the zoo at Doue la Fonatine and the Troglodyte
village at Rochemenier. The chateau at Villandry was a
great day out and kids enjoyed running about the gardens.
Thanks again for a wonderful holiday – we return very relaxed and
certainly a few dress sizes larger!!

Yet
another great holiday here – excellent facilities and wonderful
hosts in Jon and Sue.
The Sproston Family, Frodsham
August 2009
We
have had an amazing week in Anjou The Loire Valley is
spectacular and Les Fleurs self catering accommodation is
a great place top stay. The gite is spacious and has
everything a travelling family needs to ensure they have a great
time. Very child friendly. The kids loved the toys,
games, selection of DVD’s, the pool, the playground etc etc etc.
Jon and Sue are exceptional hosts – they really make you feel at
home and nothing is too much trouble for them. Les
Fleurs offers couples and families alike superior quality
self catering accommodation at an economy price – we will fully
recommend it to anyone!
The Bishop Family, Cayman Islands,
July 2009
Gite
is so spacious!! We won’t go back to the tiny little places we
usually have on holiday!! The best thing was being able to
let the children have freedom here, the first thing they want to
do is go to the playground and knowing my daughter wouldn’t fall
in the pool was a weight off my mind!!! We’ve never been on
holiday with dishwasher so that was helpful. We had BIG
car trouble and Jon and Sue were brilliant! Loved having
wine always available and the ‘end’ of the farmhouse. On
the whole, a great place for a holiday, all the comforts of
home, especially wonderful plump pillows and comfortable beds
that I couldn’t wait to sink into at night, not at
all the usual ‘rock’ that you expected to sleep on. Thank
you Jon and Sue, you obviously get a lot of pleasure knowing you
have provided everything for a great stay.
The Buss family, Kent
July 2009
Lovely
accommodation and garden, had a great stay. Lots of places to
visit and excellent meal at Auberge Beinvenue.
The Pierce Family, Cheshire
July 2009
We
stayed in Lys for the first week of our holiday which was ideal
for two of us. Our second week was in Anjou with son, wife
and two grandsons. The facilities for children are
excellent, especially the two pools. A big thank you to
Jon and Sue for a lovely holiday.
The Flower Family, Chester,
June 2009
We
have had a fantastic week at Les Fleurs. Sue and Jon
couldn’t have been more welcoming or more helpful. The
gite was fab and we were spoilt by the lovely garden. Highlights
wee cycling in beautiful countryside, the zoo at Doue la
Faontaine, wine tasting and of course Sue’s wonderful cooking!!
We also ate at the
Auberge
Beinvenue the night before Sue’s meal and found it difficult to
tell between the two!! Sue deserves stars for the quality of
‘restaurant Sue et Jon’!! We are sorry to be leaving but will
definitely be back!! Thank you for an amazing holiday!
The Smith Family, London
June 2009
A
warm welcome from Jon and Sue!! This is our first visit to
the Loire Valley and we think the area is beautiful. The
roads are so quiet that driving is a pleasure. We
particularly enjoyed our visits to the chateaus of Villandry and
Chenonceau.
We heartily recommend Sue’s cooking. We ate here for two
nights and food is superb!! Better than the restaurants we tried
on other evenings.
Thank you Jon and Sue for your kind attention
The Turners, Yorkshire
June 2009
A
lovely gite with all one could wish for. Everything is so
clean and fresh. Lots to do around the countryside.
Take note that Jon’s wines are great!!
Special thanks to Sue for her phone call to the supermarket to
retrieve my handbag, which I had left in the coffee shop.
Thank you both very much, all the best for the future
Mr & Mrs Burgess, Devon
June 2009
What
a fantastic find! A truly great gite and fabulous hosts Jon and
Sue. One of the highlights at the gite is Su’s cooking.
The whole experience was so enjoyable, made easy by the
information and the facilities for the children. The pool
is so safe for children. Thanks for a lovely holiday
The Hickey Family, Dublin, Ireland
May 2009
Lovley
gites with great facilities. Our son really enjoyed the
swing and the play cooker! Although a proper cot was
provided, we were also supplied with a travel cot as a playpen
or for when we ate with friends who were staying in the other
gite Soleil. This is an incredibly well organized place
and would defiantly consider coming back.. Thank you both
again.
The Dilliner-Lorente Family, London
May 2009
Our
first visit to the Loire and we have been very impressed.
All the information provided by Jon and Sue was helpful and time
saving. Our hosts, Jon and Sue, accommodated our needs and
kindly entertained my wife when I was called away on business
for a few days. The facilities at Anjou are great,
everything we needed. Thanks so much, you’ve created a
beautiful setting.

Back
again!! Another great holiday. New Year with Jon and Sue was
superb! Thanks again! Looking forward to returning in the summer
(The Thompsons, Gateshead, New Year 2008)
Our fifth
visit to Les Fleurs which speaks volumes about the quality of
the gite and the hospitality of the hosts Jon and Sue. As

has to offer and Sue’s fabulous cooking. Looking forward
to returning in the summer!!
(The Sprostons, Frodsham, November 2008)
Sun shone all week!!
Splendid trip along the banks of the Loire. Our first
visit to Les Fleurs but our seventh to the Loire region.
Good to see the zoo at Doue la Fontaine again, fantastic work
carried out there. Need to book – next year? Good
luck to you both

Fantastic time had by all.
Loads for the kids to both in the gite and he surrounding area.
The surrounding area of the Loire is full if history and very
interesting. The kids enjoyed the pool. Thanks for a
great time!!
(Tom, Sue, Jenny and Craig, August 2008)
Best equipped self catering
cottage we have ever stopped in. Pool fantastic!! Very
safe for children. Jon and Sue have thought of
everything!! We will be back!!
(The Knox Family Scotland July 2008)
Jon and Sue. Many thanks for
giving us such a relaxing place. The environment is
fantastic and the cottages are great!! The whole area is
what we expected and we really enjoyed the beautiful and towns
and French people. Les Fleurs is a great place and we look
forward to telling our stories back home and to the time we
return. All the best for the future
The Jacksons, New Zealand July 2008)
We had a thoroughly excellent
relaxing holiday in Anjou gite here at Les Fleurs, which is what
it is all about. Will defiantly return! Enough said!!
(Jacki, Jacki’s mum, Matthew, Patrick July 2008)
What
a fantastic holiday we have had! Anjou was first rate, as
was the hospitality of Jon and Sue. One thing is for certain,
our first visit to Les Fleurs, will not be our last!! Highlights
include the zoo at Doue la Fontaine, Chateau Villandry,
Fontevraud, troglodyte village at Rochmineir and much more.
Our daughter Isabelle’s favourite place were the gardens here at
Les Fleurs, where all the toys and fruits were impossible to
resist. We can’t wait for our next trip!! Many thanks!!
(Louise, David and Isaabelle, Co,Cork, Ireland June 2008
What
a wonderful holiday property to recharge our batteries after two
frantic weeks in Paris. Thoroughly enjoyed our flight with
Jon as pilot over the Loire Valley. Recommend wandering
the streets of Montreuil Bellay
(Paul and Lyn, Sydney Australia May 2008)
This is so amazing and so child
friendly!! It is wonderful! We’ve had a great stay
and would defiantly come back! Thank you both so much.
(Monica and Elliot Townsville, Australia May 2008)
Where
do I start? Your hospitality, Jon and Sue was brilliant!
Gite beyond our expectations. During our short sojourn in
this magnificent region we especially were enthralled and
exhilarated by the friendliness, courtesy and empathy of the
French people.
Ma franciase, je
trouvais etre meilleur toute le temps!! Favourite spots,
Rochemenier troglodyte chapel.
St. Catherines at Fontevraud
Abbey. Walking the streets of the less notable towns, for
example, Puy Notre Dame, lack of crowds, wineries and walks.
Even my attempt at left hand driving!! Lynne loved Candes
and Montrueil Bellay and the shopping!! Thanks Jon and Sue
for everything!!
(Ray and Lynne, Petwood, South Australia April 2008)
We
had a fabulous Easter break at Les Fleurs and exploring the
Loire region. We enjoyed good food and wine, Jon and Sue were
wonderful hosts and would highly recommend staying in their
wonderful gite!! Thank you!!
(Mr Mrs
Parnelle and Tanya Pearce London and New Zealand, March 2008)
Enjoyed a relaxing
and sun filled week at Les Fleurs staying in Anjou!! Gite was
comfortable and suited us perfectly. All the soft toys
provided were very much appreciated by Sian!! Highly recommend
the zoo at Doue la Fontaine (for children and adults).
Plenty to do and see – Les Fleurs is the perfect base.
Many thanks!
(Helen, Brian, Sian and Carl Oct. 2007)
We
enjoyed our stay in the Loire Valley and your lovely home. So
much to see in the area – wish we had another week! Thank you
both for all your help and advice.
(Terry and Art – Houston USA – October 2007)
Enjoyed a relaxing, sun-filled week at the gîte ‘Anjou’ Les
Fleurs. Anjou was comfortable and suited us perfectly. All the
soft toys and baby equipment was much appreciated by Sian. Would
highly recommend the Zoo at Doue la Fontaine (for
children and adults’). Plenty to do and see – Les Fleurs is the
perfect base. Many Thanks!!
(Helen, Brian and Sian – Dublin Ireland October 2007)
Another great week at Les Fleurs! This has been our third visit;
we still found new places to see and things to do. We were very
comfortable in ‘Anjou’ and Sue’s meals were good as ever. We are
looking forward to coming back next year. See you both then.
Thank you!
(Tony and Lynda - Cheshire–September -2007)
Lovely gîte in a beautiful setting. We have enjoyed exploring the
area but there is still so much to do! We will be back!!! As
well as the lovely countryside, we were very impressed by the
local towns, Doue la Fontaine, Saumur, Angers and Nantes. One
of our favourite places is Bouchemaine – the walk along the
river. Merci et á la prochaine fois!!
(Jon and Sian – Cambridge – September – 2007)
Lovely, well equipped gîte – just like home! Great rear garden,
really safe for children. The meals we had were great – served
in our own garden as if in a smart restaurant and great value
too! Thanks Jon and Sue
(Ross, Sam, Myles and Aaron – Jersey – August – 2007)
Although the weather did its best to spoil things now and again –
it didn’t succeed!! The gîte and our hosts were excellent, top
marks all round. Visits to Futurscope, Montreuil Bellay, Saumur
and Chenonceaux left the children ‘all chateued out’ but we
enjoyed them all. The walks during the evening after eating were
lovely. There is so much to see and do in the area that you
could be here a month and still miss things (we will return!!)
Once again, thank you to our hosts Jon and Sue for allowing us
to stay.
Graham. Justine, Codie and Cairo with Steve and Linda
(grandparents) –
Cambridgeshire - August 2007)
A lovely, clean, charming gîte. Thank you Sue and Jon for your
welcome and for the lovely meals. We enjoyed our stay in the
area. Brézé château was wonderful, especially for children who
loved the tunnels to explore. The Zoo at Doue la Fontaine was a
highlight and the market at Thoaurs
(Jamie, Suzy, Rosie and Sally with Helen and Sam – Guernsey -
August 2007)
A splendidly clean gîte and extremely family friendly, with the
play area, paddling pool and pool a big hit. It was good fun
teaching the Americans (staying in Soleil) cricket!! The area is
as beautiful as I remembered from my childhood, with Richelieu
and Montreuil Bellay especially memorable. Also the zoo at Doue
la Fontaine also. We’d love to think we’d come back again and
will be recommending this as a place to stay to our friends.
Thanks again for all your help – the jump leads especially!!
(Jules, Katie, Holly, William, Rosie and Dominic – Surrey –
August 2007)
The gite is beautiful, peaceful and perfectly equipped for us and
our 10 month old daughter. Jon and Sue are lovely hosts who have
helped make this a superb holiday. Thoroughly recommended. We
will defiantly be returning. A big thank you!
(Mike, Tamsin and Amelie – Jersey – July 2007)
Dear Jon and Sue, we have really enjoyed our time amongst the
vineyards, the sunflowers and your beautiful gite. Ben (our
little boy) had a great time, we will come back! p.s. Superb
hosts and Sue could start a restaurant!!
(Jim, Farneile, Ben and Liam - Brussels – July 2007)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Great location and a lovely
place to stay. It was great to have a place that was so child
friendly! We would defiantly recommend the gite Anjou and Sue
and Jon to anyone looking to stay in the Loire Valley!
(Sam and Catherine – Henley-on-Thames – June/July 2007)
One of the best, if not the best equipped gites we’ve ever been in
and we’ve been in quite a few over the years! Jon and Sue’s
recommendations can be trusted the Beinvenue restaurant in Doue
la Fontaine is fantastic!
(Ian and Katrine – Aberdeen – June 2007)
We have been holidaying in France for many years but have never
stayed anywhere that compares to the excellence of Anjou. Thank
you for a great time.
(Jim and Jean - Essex – June 2007)
We have had a wonderful holiday despite the disappointing weather
– beyond even Jon and Sue’s ability to arrange because they got
everything else just perfect. The gite Anjou is well equipped,
clean and spacious and was beyond all our expectations. Both
adults and young teenagers thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the
Cadre Noir, Rochmenier, the Mushroom Caves in Saumur were
interesting. Finally, our evening meal at the Hotel Splendid in
Montreuil Bellay and our cycle back to Montreuil Bellay in
lovely weather on our last day will be treasured memories for a
long time.
Thank you Jon and Sue for the excellent web info which enticed us
here.
(Angela, Pete, Chloe and Steph – Cheshire - May/June 2007)
Wonderful gite, marvellous hosts and a big thank you for our
lovely relaxing time!
(Sean, Maeve and children – Ireland – May 2007)
We thank you sincerely for your kindness, guidance, reassurances,
warmth and the time you spent with us throughout our weeks stay
which has now enabled us to buy the house that we only ever
dreamed of. We have been touched by your unselfish nature in
wanting to help our move to France successful. You have restored
our faith in human nature.
(Paul, Maggie, Shana and Ilona – Kent – March 2007)
Many thanks Jon and Sue. A memorable 5 months in your award
winning gite. Good luck and good health to you both. Happy
gardening Sue!!
(Rosemary and Mike – now living in France)
We have had an absolutely wonderful holiday. Fabulous autumn
sunshine, which showed off the lovely countryside, chateau and
gardens. When the weather was less kind there was the wine
tasting! Good food, good wine and good company – mainly down to
the hosts Jon and Sue and the fellow guests. The welcoming meal
was especially good. Sue and Jon went out of their way to ensure
we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We were
impressed by the Troglodyte dwellings at Rochmeneir. Also
Villandry gardens and chateau were worth the journey. A really
friendly place to stay which is a credit to Jon and Sue.
(Anthea and Maggie,
Staffordshire October 2006)
Thank you for a lovely holiday. We will defiantly be back
again!! The gite is perfect. Jon and Sue are very friendly and
helpful. We have enjoyed the local shops and places of interest.
The Zoo is fantastic (I am not normally a zoo fan). We found a
brilliant tennis court as well – so we have not missed out on
our weekly fix! Thanks again, we have had an absolute wonderful
time.
(Andrew and Vicky, Surrey,
September 2006)
Fantastic holiday. Gite is fabulous and Su’s cooking yummy!!
There’s so much to do here that we need to come back!
(The Rance Family, Cirencester,
August 2006)
Lovely Welcome, beautiful gite! Sue and Jon perfect hosts, very
accommodating and helpful. Doue Zoo a great day out, one of the
best zoos we have been to. Brilliant shopping at Tours, worth
visiting. Very relaxing and peaceful week. Thank you very much
Sue and Jon.
(The McGhee and Bowers,
Lancashire, July 2006)
Great hosts. Great food. What a fantastic farmhouse, so perfect.
We have really enjoyed our stay and hopefully will see you both
in NZ next year. Thank you Jon and Sue.
(The Wawhinney family, July
2006, New Zealand)
Great week. Lovely gite, its so relaxing and quiet. Spent the week
exploring various villages, towns and cities. Tours old quarter
is very nice. The best drive is on the back roads from Saumur to
Angers, with great places to stop and lunch on the borders of
the Loire. Thank you Jon and Sue for being great hosts. Next
time we will go flying with you!
(Mr Mrs Lawenson, Hampshire,
June 2006)
We’ve had a great holiday in this lovely gite, not long enough to
see and do everything in the area, although we squeezed in
enjoyable trips to Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau and Villandry.
Very family friendly here. Our daughter enjoyed her first swim
and his first swing! Thank you Jon and Sue.
(Karl, Amy and family,
Buckinghamshire, June 2006)
Our second holiday here and another lovely fortnight spent
relaxing at Les Fleurs. Wonderful meals by Sue and Jon really
added to the break. Friends and family joined us for the first
week and commented on ‘what a gem’, we’d found. The pool and
children’s area are great in the sunshine. Thank you Jon and Sue
for your welcome and help!!
(The Bowden Family, Devon,
June2006)
Will be leaving much more relaxed than when we arrived!! Enjoyed
days out to the Zoo and also Futuroscope (didn’t know what to
expect there but Kids thoroughly enjoyed it). Also did boat trip
along the Loire in Saumur and spent several hours around the man
made beach and small lake adjacent to bridge in Saumur, with
picnic – LOVELY!!
Caroline, Steve, George &
Harriet from St. Albans September 2005
Had a lovely relaxing holiday in a well equipped gite. Particulary
enjoyed the Zoo in Doue la Fontaine, full of interesting animals
in beautiful surroundings. Lots of interesting old towns in the
area, particulary Chinon and Tours. The troglodyte village just
north of Doue is interesting.
Colin, Helen and Family from
Sheffield August 2005
Very good place, Lovely area. Peaceful and NICE!! Very good
markets around the towns. Gite was nice, we really enjoyed the
pool. The weather was fantastic. If you want to see all the
Chateau’s go the the mini Chateau park at Amboise and then the
aquarium which is close by. Chinon is really nice and has a
brilliant market on Thursdays. Do the Zoo at Doue la Fontaine,
it was wonderful and a great opportunity to get really close to
the animals. Thanks for a lovely time.
Colin, Jenny, Tom and Lizzy from
Northants August 2005
The gite was very comfy and spacious, nicely decorated. Pool area
was very lovely and so was the pool. (Except for when it was
freezing cold) The evening meal cooked by Sue was Yummy. The
town square and shops were nice, especially the baker and the
restaurant with the gazebos on the porch.
Grayson, Vikki, Kara, Sarah,
Ryan & Claire from Cambridgeshire August 2005
We’ve had a great time – really enjoyed the pool and play area
(Great for a toddler) Great area for attractions – Troglodyte
caves, Rose festival in Doue and the fantastic zoo at Doue.
Thank you for providing such a well run facility.
Jane, Paul and Max from
Hampshire July 2005
Thank you Jon and Sue for the loan of your lovely cool Gitein the
hot summer sun. We were lucky and came when the festival of the
roses was in full swing – The four local caves are decorated
with over 500 varieties of rose. All children (15 – 18) were
impressed, the modern designs getting the mosts ‘WOW’ value….
The children and Ian enjoyed the airoplane flight with Jon. Make
sure to book one of Sue’s meals early in your holiday – they're
LOVELY!!!
Kathryn, Ian, Alex and Corinne
from Hampshire July 2005
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Loire Valley and our
days at Les Fleurs. The weather has been largely wonderful and
we have savoured the wine and regional specialties. The Zoo at
Doue was one of the best we have been to and we have picked some
beautiful Chateau to visit. Our daughter loved Sleeping Beauty's
castle at Usee and we all loved chenonceau. This marks the end
of a 6 week holiday in France and we could not have asked for
a better goodbye than the warm hospitality at Les Fleurs and the
wonderful last meal in France at the Auberge Bienvenue.
David, Katrina and Naomi from
Australia June 2005
We have had a lovely relaxing holiday here in Anjou, a lovely gite
and well equipped for children. The pool and garden area are
wonderful. Two year old Jack has spent many happy hours playing
in the paddling pool and with all the toys leaving his parents
free to relax on the sunbeds!!! A great base to visit from.
Plenty to do in this area the Zoo is great. We hope to visit
again. Thank you Jon and Sue for being so friendly and helpful.
You treat the gites as much more than just a business and it
does make a difference!!
Mark, Lynne, Jack and Harvey
from North Devon June 2005
Our thanks to Sue and Jon for being so welcoming and helpful
during our stay. Although we have been on holiday to France many
times this was our first
experience of a gite. The gite exceeded our expectations on every
level and the location is wonderfully restful. We love
everything that the area has to offer, however ourselves and the
children particularly enjoy the Zoo at Doue which we have now
visited four times in the last few years and which we will be
sure to visit again. Our thanks again to Jon and Sue and special
thanks from the children for showing them an aspect of the
valley they will never forget.
Karen, Andrew, Mathew and
Charlotte from Cheshire June 2005
Sue and Jon Thank for all you have done we have had a wonderful
time here in the gite and in the Valley. We could not have asked
for more.
Ivor, Gail, Janet and Mike from
Great Yarmouth May 2005
Our stay at Les Fleurs has been memorable. Anjou is a cosy
Farmhouse with extremely warm and helpful hosts Jon & Sue. We
woke up every morning with bird song cheering us for another
wonderful day in the Loire. The Chateau’s at Chambord, Amboise
and Villandry have been awesome!! Historical towns of Ceudes St.
Martin, Montreuil Bellay and Fontrevraud took us back in time
while the troglodyte village at Rochemenir gave us a glimpse of
how it must have been to live underground. The scenery
throughout the Valley from Doue to Chambord along the river
allowed us to experience the rolling green meadows interspersed
with bright yellow patches of oil seed rape. Plenty of wineries
and the food provided the gastronomical delights. Overall it was
a relaxing and great vacation for all of us from India.
Banin, Vinita, Vishnu and
Nandita from India April 2005
Had a great week in Anjou. Everything as promised and more!! So
much to see and do in the area will bring us back to stay we
hope. Jon and Sue have been such perfect hosts and have worked
so hard to create such comfortable surroundings they deserve
every success for the future of their business.
The French people have been very welcoming and have added to the
enjoyment of our stay here. See you all soon!!
Dave and Fiona from Newcastle
April 2005
A very comfortable Gite. Jon & Sue very accommodating hosts. Their
help and advice with our stay has been invaluable, Kids have had
a great time, Futurscope excellent day out, Saumur good shopping
and lovely place to visit. We shall hopefully be back in the
near future. Best of luck to you both.
Graham, Sharon, Daniel & Betham

Jon & Sue thank you for having us & being such nice hosts.
Everything perfect, we’ve really enjoyed it! We wish you both
every success in your venture and have no doubt you will
succeed. Hope to see you again sometime.
Laurence & Margaret from
Newcastle October 2004
Jon and Sue couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful and made the
gîte so child – friendly of our two very young children. The Zoo
at Doue is one of the best and the children loved the Chateaux
at Villandry with its fantastic gardens. Jon & Sue’s wine also
well worth sampling. Thanks for everything – Good luck with the
business!
Kevin and Susie from
Lincolnshire September 2004
We have enjoyed every moment of our stay and greatly appreciate
all the comforts of Anjou – Certainly the best gîte we’ve ever
stayed in. It’s perfect for children: Why did we never manage to
find anywhere so child – friendly – and safe – when we were
travelling with our own family? The Chateaux of Azay le Rideau
and Clemenceau are strongly recommended, as are the magnificent
gardens at Villandry. We especially enjoyed the Zoo – in some
ways the highlight of our stay – admiring its clever use of
space, the artful landscaping and the serious conservation
issues it seems to address. If you visit the zoo, finish off
with dinner at the Auberge Bienvenue directly opposite. A most
wonderful meal, reasonably priced. Thank you Jon and Sue for
allowing us to stay at Les Fleurs. We wish your business the
success it deserves and look forward to returning with our
(grown up!) family.

What superb hosts!!! Very welcoming and obliging at every turn.
Gîte beautifully equipped and so clean!! Although the weather
wasn’t anything to write home about – it didn’t dampen our
enjoyment of the holiday. Saumur is beautiful to visit as was
Brézé (very interesting) & Fontevaud & Montreuil Bellay. The
locality is truly picturesque and the local baker will talk the
hind legs off anything that moves! Local wines provided by Jon &
Sue were superb especially the red. We had a truly lively time
and the cycle rides were very enjoyable. Thank you Sue & Jon. X

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Anjou and will certainly
recommend it to our friends. Can recommend Brissac, very pretty
and fabulous Chateau. The food at the restaurant Hault in Doue
la Fontaine was excellent. Thanks again to Sue & Jon.

Enjoyed our visit very much. Superb Chateaux at Azay-la Rideau and
Cheuonceau Great valley ride from Saumur – Gennes – towards
Angers. Exceptional food at Hostelperie at Montreuil Bellay
Port-St-John and for a good value cheapie – the trucker’s café –
Chez Paul on the D960 roundabout bypass at Doue.

We had a lovely fortnight here in the Loire valley. The gîte
was cool in the extremely hot weather. We definitely recommend
Doue la Fontaine Zoo particularly the gorgeous baby snow
leopards!! A good wine tasting place is the Caves de Grenvelle
in Saumur (excellent). Also if you have time to travel to Blois-
we recommend the dragons at ‘Maison de Magie’ and the Tintin
exhibition at Chateau de Cheverny. Any minor problems were
dealt with quickly and efficiently by Jon and Sue who were very
friendly.

The gîte is very nice and the area outstanding. Make sure
you visit Puy Notre Dame. Its visible form the gîte and a
nice evening ride. A la prochaine fois!!!
Beth, Ricky and Janet from Hertfordshire July 2003
We have had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The weather has
been hot and we have spent each evening in the garden, eating,
drinking and watching the sky changing until 11pm!!! We don’t
think we shall be doing the same on our return home!

We enjoyed revisiting old favourites, Fontevraund, Saumur, Chinon,
Villandry. The weather was interesting, 34 on the first
day and 14 on the second with plenty of sun, wind. We are
returning with good supplies of Loire wines and cheeses!!
Peter and Jenny from Tunbridge
Wells June 2003
Very relaxing and spent many hours in the evening in the garden
listening to the birds just like the couple before us. Love
horses so the National School of equitation was a must and we
were not disappointed. Love Saumur and the trip on the boat

Enjoyed a peaceful relaxing week, weather very hot and gîte nice
and cool to come back to. Boat trip on Loire at Saumur
recommended. Lovely in back garden listening & watching the
birds, didn’t manage to spot the cuckoo! Très Bien.

We’ve had a fabulous week! The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed
our trips to Angers, Saumur and Chinon. Great cycling country
and wonderful riverside picnics. We look forward to returning.
Julia, Norman + Family from
Amersham. May 2003
We had a wonderful week here. The gîte is wonderful, everything as
promised and superb weather too. We have stayed in this area
several times previously, but there is so much of interest, we
found many places we had not previously visited. We love Saumur
and also the Abbey of Fontevraud. The visit to the local wine
tasting recommended by Jon and Sue was not to be missed. Also
the strolls along the lanes with the spring cow slips and wild
flowers and skylarks are some of the memories we will take home
with us. Went to futuroscope which was great. Many thanks and
our best wishes to you.
